Resource Center

The Kathy Leighton Resource Center houses the thousands of documents, photographs, books, maps, histories, newspapers and memorabilia that covers Bethel Island, Brentwood, Byron, Discovery Bay, Knightsen, Oakley and the islands of East Contra Costa.

Over 450 family files include information on many pioneer and prominent families and over 20,000 photographs document the change in the area. Original court documents, local newspapers dating from the early 1900’s, and numerous maps document the development of the area. A collection of Liberty High School yearbooks dating from 1901 and scrapbooks donated by several organizations from the past are also housed here.

Reference binders that contain histories of local fraternal clubs, law enforcement, hospitals and doctors, schools, churches, fire departments, John Marsh and the John Marsh House, agriculture and other local historical information are available. A collection of books includes histories of the area by local authors.

The Resource Center is open to the public:

Mondays and Wednesdays 1:00-4:00
